Another Huckabee Gaffe
Check this out -- Mike Huckabee thought martial law was still in effect in Pakistan. Worse yet, check out the "clarification." After saying what he said, his campaign didn't just come clean and move on, it attempted in effect to argue that it all depends on what the meaning of "martial law" is.
For my taste, that's a little too close to the Clintonian it's all a matter of "what the meaning of the word 'is' is."
Obviously, these kinds of mistakes have been made by presidential candidates in teh past . . . but the stakes are infinitely higher now, given that we're in a war with the forces of Islamofascist terroris,m. Who could think that this guy is equipped to be President?

It's too bad Mike Huckabee doesn't have the deep understanding of international politics that Rudy Giuliani possesses, or the courage to stand by his convictions that characterizes Mitt Romney.

Seriously though, why all the posts bashing Mike Huckabee--and not just from you, Carol, but almost the entirety of the Republican establishment? It's almost as if the Republicans' past quarter century of proclaimed fealty to the evangelical cause was nothing more than cynical political opportunism.
(Just so you know, the last sentiment is not my own, but what I am hearing from evangelicals who were dedicated Republican partisans in previous election cycles.)
