Gotta Love the "Duct Tape Solution"
Apparently, some in the audience weren't buying what "Slow Joe" Biden was selling when it came to the Iraq war.
[W]hen Biden turned to the audience for questions, John Stevens, a 79-year-old Air Force disabled veteran of Korea and Vietnam, told Biden he had a better solution.
"The war's being lost in Congress by the people who give aid and comfort to the enemies that are killing our troops," he said.
Stevens then said he had his own plan: "I call it the duct tape solution. You take a roll of duct tape and you put it over the mouths of the people that are criticizing our troops and also causing the enemy to continue attacking our troops and blowing them up."
Well said, Mr. Stevens -- and thank you for your service.

One reads about such things and wonders: Why am I never present when such wonderful things happen?
Let me be the first to lose the argument by invoking Godwin's law, but...
Isn't shutting up the opposition in the midst of armed conflict something that Hitler did?
Oh, I'm sorry. It's only the left who are the Nazis here.
Who is criticizing the troops?
OSO - gotta disagree - again.
This man earned the right to his opinion when he was abused by his country when he got home. We won militarily in Vietnam. We turned tail (or congress did more accurately) when the north invaded the south 2 years later.
Our cowardly congress is, once more, more interested in power than the good of the nation!
Mr. Stevens - Welcome home mt brother
Certainly the disabled veteran earned the right to say what he said. But simply being an American in this beautifully free country gives you the right to say what you think regardless of whether you are a veteran or not.
I have to agree with Salient on this one. Truth, justice, and the American way is not at all about silencing critics. You win the day by winning open, public debate.
I would like to see those who believe America is justified in its actions in the Middle East be a lot more forceful and articulate in this debate.
We are doing the right thing for the right reasons. The enemy is not going to lie down in surrender. He must be defeated. Tactics may need to change, but the ideals we are fighting for are sound.
I believe a majority of Americans are perfectly capable of understanding these very basic arguments. I further believe they do and will support these efforts.
Sure, the looney left has been a source of discouragement for the good guys (us) and an encouragement for the bad guys (them). But the true source, in my opinion, of the current, temporary sagging public support for this conflict is the glaring lack of public leadership from conservatives.
If Republicans nominate a strong supporter of the war against Islamic Fascism who is also an intelligent and articulate communicator, public support for our efforts will rise again.
