No Retreat

For the slow kids in the class, Henry Kissinger explains why, in Iraq, failure is not an option (sorry, Dems & Chuck Hagel):

American forces are indispensable. They are in Iraq not as a favor to its government or as a reward for its conduct. They are there as an expression of the American national interest to prevent the Iranian combination of imperialism and fundamentalist ideology from dominating a region on which the energy supplies of the industrial democracies depend.

An abrupt American departure will greatly complicate efforts to help stem the terrorist tide far beyond Iraq; fragile governments from Lebanon to the Gulf will be tempted into pre-emptive concessions. It might drive the sectarian conflict within Iraq to genocidal dimensions.

I haven't always been a fan of all Kissinger's detente and realpolitik, but he's dead right about this one.

A lengthy means of saying, we are there to steal their oil, with Bush's pseudo democracy being the Trojan Horse.

Wrap the flag around it. Claim the mission came from God, terrorize the citizens with cherry-picked intelligence and there remains about 70% in the US and Iraq who say we're not buying this horsesh!t.

What game are YOU watching, earth?
If you don't think there's real value in keeping Iraq's oil out of Iranian control, then you're not paying attention. There's a big difference between defending their resources and stealing them. Helping Iraq to become self-sufficient allows the oil needed by the world to flow unrestricted. Don't wallow in libspeak about a fantasy evilBush out for his own sake. Check out HotAir.com and view some vids from Michelle Malkin's trip to Iraq and you'll see Iraqi's happy to have us there. Then try to explain where you get that 70% number.

Carol,

Don't mean to promote competing blogs. Just presenting evidence to dispute ETC's post.

MArshal - I disagree.

Michelle and Carol don't compete - they re-enforce each other. We should all be reading both

No doubt Flomster. I wasn't meaning to suggest that they oppose each other, just that I didn't mean to encourage anyone to leave Carol in favor of another. Sorta like two great TV shows that are on different channels in the same time slot. Not everyone gives up precious sleep time to visit way too many great blogs like I do.
