"Follow the Money," Indeed!
In The Washington Post, Walter Pincus reminisces fondly about the days when Congress was cutting off money for the Vietnam War, and notes that it could certainly follow the same course when it comes to Iraq. (He doesn't mention, of course, that we lost the Vietnam War, thereby emboldening our adversaries).
It will be a pleasant surprise if the Democrats don't try some funding shenanigans. After all, it's something that some of them have openly been considering for some time -- but somehow, however, the MSM has just gotten around to talking about it after the elections.

Carol, I've got to disagree with you. We did not lose the Vietnam War. We were able to force the North Vietnamese to the bargaining table by doing what Barry Goldwater had suggested all along. Non stop bombing and mining Haiphong Harbor.
We won every major battle that was fought -- all in spite of the Main Stream Medias traiterous exortations. Specifically -- When Walter Kronkite announced that we had lost Tet, (in spite of the fact that we had totally reduced the Vietcong to a shadow of their former self) he encouraged the MSM to continue their march to ignominy.
The activities of John Kerry, Jane Fonda and their traiterous ilk convinced the North Vietnamese that if they could just hang on, we would drown in our own self-flagilation.
If the Democratic Congress had followed up on our pledges, South Vietnam would not have fallen.
Unfortunately the MSM is persuing the same Hate-America activities as their predecessors.
When we came home we were treated horribly. Our Honow was stripped from us. These magnifacnet young men and women have restored our honor, for that I am grateful.
Please understand my emotion on this. We did not lose in Vietnam. 58,000 of our finest perished.
I will do all in my power to insure that these magnificant warriors do not suffer as we did.
Sorry if I am ranting, but it is a very sore topic.
we did not lose the Vietnam war.
If you're ranting, dude, it's a good rant. I would caution you regarding Carol's statement concerning Viet Nam. I don't think she would disagree with anything you've said. She doesn't need me to defend her statements, but I would imagine she meant losing in a different sense than getting our butts kicked.
I already apologized to Carol in a seperate email. As for the rant - It has become a reflex action. Again - Carol, I apologize for any slight, whether intended or not.
What has gotten me so edgy is the left's attitude of stating a falsehood (ok, a damned lie) as the premise of their argument and proceding from there. i.e. - There were no WMD's. Bush Lied. The domino theory in Southeast Asia was wrong.
I don't mean this to be hateful or hurtful. But if our goal was to keep South Viet Nam from falling, and if South Viet Nam fell, then we lost the Viet Nam War.
Having said that, I totally agree with your comments regarding the media and the Democrats in Congress. They caused America to lose heart and focus. They caused us to withdraw before the job was done.
And withdraw we did.
A million South Vietnamese died brutal deaths as result.
Today we are hearing the same tune from the same parties.
Greg - I take no offense. I understand where you are coming from.
Unfortunately there are some wounds that will not heal. Just the fact that John Kerry profited from his trechery is salt in the wound.
That being said - I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving.
