Just Sound and Fury . . .

So the 14-member Special Commission on the Episcopal Church and the Anglican Communion has come up with recommendations intended for consideration by the General Convention.

From what I read, I'm not impressed. Sounds like the canon from South Carolina has it about right: The document is designed to push the worldwide Anglican communion as far as possible without outright provoking a schism, which puts those pushing these recommendations in the worst of all worlds -- both cowardly and insincere. They lack the courage of their convictions, and aren't willing to risk expulsion from the Anglican communion. On the other hand, they're not willing sincerely to embrace Episcopal orthodoxy.

Hardly profiles in courage.

You will also note the comment about "scapegoating" gays and lesbians, as if the conservatives pushed the issue from their end.

The United Church of Christ is going through a similar struggle. Some of us are uniting under a new group called "Faithful and Welcoming" to combat the "God is Still Speaking" campaign, which, despite their words to the contrary, is an advocay campaign for gay marriage and unions. The alternative is to leave the denomination as around 97 congregations have done. This isn't really good for anyone, but is still a last resort. And all because some wish to put their desires above the Word of God.

My denomination is very similar to what Amber says of hers. The UCC's "God Is Still Speaking" campaign is taken by some to mean that He's changing His Mind. I respond that of course He's still speaking, but He's saying what He's always said.
