I was browsing today while waiting for the evening festivities. After reading the retired journalism professor's self-induced hysterics on what is so bad about the US today, I found this article refreshing indeed. Whatever happened to optimism and the belief that while there are bad things that happen we can address them and make life better for ourselves and our communities. Maybe I should stop reading now while I am in a better mood. I wish everyone a Happy New Year and a very optimistic 2006.
