Ellen Goodman thinks that security moms are a myth. Her assertion resembles the post-war "spin" of Kerry & Ko., which attempts to suggest that the well-established links between Saddam and terrorists were little more than myth (see this for both the truth and the falsehoods).

Well, the impact of new information about a suspected Iraqi insurgent gathering information on schools in Fort Myers, Fla.; Salem, Ore.; Gray, Ga.; Birch Run, Mich.; two towns in New Jersey; and two towns in California may help settle both questions.

Goodman attempts to dismiss security moms as the "married women with children" who are already solidly Republican. But one doesn't need to be a "married mom" herself to be absolutely horrified at the prospect of a Beslan happening in the USA -- let's not forget the single moms with children (or married-but-childless women with close friends who have little ones). And if there are no links between Saddam/pro-Saddam forces and terrorism, could someone please explain this Iraqi's great interest in the floor plans of schools in America? It's doubtful he's simply trying to audition for a post as the new Iraqi Education Minister.

Most of all, could someone PLEASE explain how Kerry's plan to engage France and Germany -- and to withdraw troops in Iraq ASAP, victory or not -- could possibly keep schoolchildren safer than continuing to engage the terrorists on THEIR home soil, instead of ours?
